Damages done today at sportsdirect.com

Got myself a pair of workout gloves and badminton grip from SportsDirect.com at 1Mont Kiara plaza. Few of items on sale here is quite cheap but most of them are not exactly cheap. Most badminton racket on sale priced more than RM100 and those under RM100 definitely the "el cheapo" and not worth your money. Here you can hardly get XL sized clothes and let alone XXL ones.

The gloves will definitely help me next time when we are going to do push-up on uneven surface. And my on-loan badminton racket desperately need a new grip.

JK1M: The 2nd week meet

Yesterday was the second official meet for our Wangsa Maju JK1M group. As usual, I was held at MSN complex Setiawangsa again.

We started the session with a not so light workout. We were divided into 4 groups and there were 4 workout "station" First station was 10 times squat, second station was 15 times push-up, 3rd station was 20 times sit-up and the last station bear crawl for 10 meters. We keep on doing this, station after station until 15 minutes are over. Honestly I din't fare so well because after completed the first round, I can't continue anymore after having upper abs cramp while trying to do the burpee.

 Prepare for "hell"

 Superman and superwomen

Next workout after a good five minutes rest was cone sprinting. I enjoyed this workout so much because I'm quite good at doing something "explosive" such as short distance sprinting. We took turn to do it one after another. Before starting back, we were required to do 20 times of squat. Even though I enjoyed this so much, I only managed to complete only two rounds of it.

The not so yoga pose

After finished the workout and cool-down stretches, it was time for weight measurement. Surely, I did managed to lose some weight but only 1.1kg lesser compared to my last weeks weight. So at that time my weight was 133.4kg. This result puts me as the number one standing amongst the male participant. Although it's good to lose some weight, my journey is still very far as my weight loss was nothing compared to the female participants weight loss,

Stretching after finished the routine

Hopefully I will able to lose more than 2kg for the next week and thus be able to reach my target of losing 10kg in six week. Pray for me and wish me luck!

JK1M: The Gym Session

Yesterday was the 2nd meeting for our group. It was the gym workout and demonstration session.

We were shown on how to use few gym equipment by our coach, Duffee (real name Haniff Gadaffi). Since I'm been doing workout for few years already, the demo doesn't catch my interest that much.

But before that, we were made to go through a series of grueling High Intensity Station based workouts. There were 6 types of workout. The workouts were:
  • Barbell overheard press
  • Kettlebell swing
  • Kettlebell clean-and-rack
  • Medicine Ball Squat Thrust with Wall Rebound
  • Rope skipping
  • Box jump
  • Alternate wrist and forearm plank
We need to do 15 reps for each station non-stop for 15 minutes. I felt like my heart going to explode after finished the whole hellish ordeal. But I think it's a good workout because eventhough I left the gym with a sore body and leg, I felt somewhat refreshed.

Still elated after the torturous workouts

This is only the begining. The real fight starts for the next 5 days; to eat within the calories mean, which is for me 2000kcal maximum perday. For your information, my DCR (daily caloric requirements) is around 3500kcal perday. With 1500kcal deficit perday, hopefully I will lose 1-1.5kg in one week.

Pray for my success!

JK1M Wangsa Maju: Race Start!

Today is a big day. Today is the day that Jom Kurus 1Malaysia weight loss challenge officially started. For our group, the meeting place was at MSN Sports Complex, Setiawanga (actually, it's at Wangsa Maju)

The whole JK1M Wangsa Maju participants

First order of the day is weight measuring. My weight was exactly 134.7kg. Well that's on empty stomach after I went to the toilet twice in the morning.

"Abang sado" gang with the coach in the middle

We did a few workouts, basically the basic workout such as burpee, jacknife, squat and push-up. It's quite fun because it's a random workout based on the card that we draw. Fun but fucking tiring. I'm not entirely fit. I couldn't even do burpee properly. Blame that on my bulging stomach :P

My family

After that, we did an introduction session and group photography. Then I continued my workout with one round of jogging on the running track.

So far, it's still okay. Tomorrow I have a gym session at 9.45AM. Do wish me luck!

Seminar Jom Kurus 1 Malaysia

This morning I went to the seminar at Prince Court Medical Center, Kuala Lumpur. It's part of the itinerary for JK1M challenge.

The seminar was conducted my the Malaysia most famous fitness guru, Kevin Zahri. Overall it was goo seminar. Kevin is a great speaker and his presentation was relaxing, not so serious and also he's quite funny.

Most of the items that he presented basically I have some knowledge about it from readings from the internet when I was unsuccessfully tried to lose weight few times before. Basically what he taught is available in his eBook which titled "Lose 5kg in 5 weeks", which I have read before coming to the seminar.

But still I do learn a lot coming to this seminar. First was how to lose "water weight" and how to get rid of "water retention" problem. Our body is unique; to lose water we need to consume more water and it doesn't matter whether the water is hot or cold. Iced and cold water DO NOT make your body to store more fat! That's the fact that was confirm by him. So people, please don't chide me if you see me drinking iced water.

We also go to watched few workout demos from the team leaders from JK1M challenge. We learned how to do crunches, burpees, lunges and squats properly with the correct technique.

Lastly, past JK1M winners share their successful story with us.

Overall it was a good experience. Hopefully after knowing all of this, I will able to start my path to slimmer me correctly this coming Monday. Wish me luck!

Just a normal day

Yesterday was my birthday. I got a please surprise from my ex-Monste friends during the get-along dinner the night before. The presented me a Brazil 3rd jersey replica f. It was nice a perfect fit. Thanks a bunch guys. You guys are ohsem!

So I took a day leave. Not that I wanted to celebrate but I'm just not comfortable with the possibility of people in the office singing happy birthday to me. I mean we're not that close yet, and I just wanna escape any awkward situation.

So I decided to spent the time at the chilly hills of Genting Highlands alone. I really enjoy the drive up to the Gohtong Jaya. The road is quite winding and challenging. I drove with the windows down as chilly hill air rushing through my face. That was the best ride this year.

I didn't drive all the way to the top but instead until the skyway station only. Then I took the cable car to the top. It was nice to reconnect back with nature and I enjoyed every second of the ride.

Lady liberty... what are you doing here?

On-going work on the theme park

Up there, there's nothing much to see or do. The reason was the outdoor theme park has been demolished to make way for a brand new 20th Century Fox theme park which slated to open next year. Can't hardly wait for it to open :)

End up I spent most of my time browsing in Nike Factory Store on the 1st floor a the First World Plaza. Last season's Man Utd was on sale for just RM129 but too bad only S sizes are available. XXL size only comes in long sleeve edition which I'm not entirely fond of. So I bought myself a nice dri-fit training shirt as my birthday present.

After that had a lunch at Marrybrown and it was quite expensive but every fast food chain here is expensive. At least RM5 pricier that the normal price down below.

Heavy haze before it rained heavily

Took the ride down around 2PM. Nothing much too see because it rained heavily. The drive down back to KL also quite slow because of the slippery road conditions. But praise to Allah I arrived home in one piece although there's a lot of huge lorries and trucks using Karak Highways, even more than you could find in NS Highway.

Planing to go back maybe next month after the payday. There's a lot of cheap Nike shoes and I wanna grab a pair. :)

New challenge: 30 days squat challenge

Aside from going to the gym every weekdays, I decided to add this in my daily workout routine.

Hopefully this will add an extra edge to the effectiveness of my workout in helping to lose weight.

New pair of running shoes

At RM 129 per pair, this shoe perhaps the most expensive shoe I've ever bought for myself. It's also the most expensive among other Power shoes.

The thing I like the most about this shoe is the top is made by canvas. There are no plastic or rubber linings. So it's so stretchable and my big feet are so comfortable in it.

This shoe also is very light. I think it weigh a half compared to any other running shoes below price tag of RM 200.

Can't hardly wait to test it in the gym tomorrow. Hopefully everything is good and no more blister after jogging for more than 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Let's do this!

The journey for my weight loss and life-style change has begun.

Today, I went out for a brisk/walk at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. The last time I went here was few months ago.

Decently clocked a 3.9 km walk in 53 minutes which is not bad at all. I could've done better if not for my feet getting sores already. The Power shoes that I bought 6 months ago are really not good for my feet. I tend to get blisters after using it for jogging for more than 30 minutes.

Need to buy a new pair of jogging shoes this weekend. Should I spend more to get a decent Adidas shoes or should I stick to a budget below RM100 and get another Power shoes instead? Decisions... decisions....

Need to lose that bulging tummy in 2 months
